MD Forte

MD Forte is a rejuvenating skin care system. It was launched in 1995 by Allergan, Inc. and introduced as an anti aging product. The MD Forte products contain a glycolic acid compound specifically designed to benefit all skin types. Through the use of chemical peels it can counter premature aging by diminishing fine lines and increasing hydration and suppleness to the skin. These products can also create more homogenous skin tones and can improve oily or acne prone skin. The product line consists of:

These products can be used on the face, neck, chest and hands. Areas that tend to have rougher skin such as elbows, knees, or feet can also benefit. All skin types; oily, dry, combination and sensitive are targeted by the MD Forte line.

MD Forte products contain varying levels of glycolic acid found in Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). Glycolic acid is a mild form of acid that initiates a chemical peel of the outer layer of skin which can be very irritating. However, MD Forte has created a glycolic acid compound that offers a better tolerated balance of pH and acid. This compound is less likely to cause redness and irritation to the skin. If applied according to directions, these products offer long lasting effects throughout the day,. In this manner, it will maximize the skin rejuvenation process.

Alpha hydroxyl acid containing glycolic acid is found naturally in sugar cane or it can be synthetically reproduced. Glycolic acid helps disintegrate the bond that holds the dry dead skin cells together on the surface skin. It exfoliates this outer layer of skin when applied. As this skin is removed a smoother, silkier layer of skin is exposed.
