As quoted from www.mdforte.com "Glycolic compound is a complex, ph-balanced mixture of glycolic acid, ammonium glycolate, purified water, and higher-molecular-weight oligomers of glycolic acid with an approximate activity level of 60%. It is designated on product labels as the ingredients "glycolic acid" and " ammonium glycolate." It allows the skin to exfoliate and become smoother and softer.

Glycolic acid is a very effective AHA. The smaller molecular size of glycolic acid compared to lactic or poly-hydroxy acid allows faster delivery of the benefits to the skin. "Partial neutralization creates a well of molecular components that allow the acid to work on the skin in phases." The cream that is smoothed on in the morning will work all day on the skin and cause less irritation due to the unique balance of the pH and acid found in the glycolic compound used in MD Forte. The MD Forte products containing 30% glycolic compound should be administered by a physician.
